What actually happens inside the mind of someone who creates for a living? Not the post you see or the highlight reel, but the real process: What references do they carry? What doubts do they work through? What are the decisions they make that nobody sees?

That curiosity is the engine that drives MAEKAN.

Since 2016, we have sat with some of the best Asian creative talent in the world: designers, artists, photographers, and founders. We ask how they think, why they’re compelled to create — how a half-formed idea survives contact with reality, and how a point of view gets built over years.

Our interest spans not only the celebrated but also those just finding their footing, hoping for a place to tell their story and share their passion. We believe the most honest conversations sit somewhere between the two. What they share is a culture we are proud to belong to, and one we want the world to better understand and embrace.

MAEKAN was founded by Alex Maeland and Eugene Kan as a continued place to tell stories for the curious — the kind that move not only us, but audiences globally.
