Filtergram improves on the Instagram experience through minimalism
Filtergram is the read-only equivalent of Instagram that bills itself as “for people who want to see some Instagram content, but aren’t too keen on the Instagram Experience itself.” Designed by software engineer Ben Howdle, the app came about when his wife was training to become a personal trainer and asked if there was a way to create an app that could filter Instagram posts intelligently.
- Users can only follow and are restricted from posting, commenting or ‘liking’ anything.
- The interface design is minimal and the feed chronological.
- You can also filter out posts you don’t care about based on hashtags.
